omg - a concert!! we're playing The Victoria in Dalston, London on Thursday 1st July, tickets on sale now, click here
this is our first show in over a year and we're sooooper excited to play songs from the new album 'Miracle' as well as all the old favourites. can't bloody wait to see you xxx
the title 'lonesome no more' comes from the kurt vonnegut novel of the same name, in which citizens of the USA are each prescribed an extended family of 'cousins' to cure the nationwide problem of loneliness. i suppose it got me thinking where i'd be without loneliness, without an excuse to feel sorry for myself and without an excuse to drink to feel better. i'm three months sober today and I don't want an excuse to feel sorry for myself anymore, which was so often the case until recently. a huge thankyou and congratulations needs to go to my dear friend and filmmaker Grant Peacock AKA 'kidmilk' for not only pouring his heart and soul into this video but also a bit of his life too - he's days away from being 6 months sober and it's massively inspiring to me, so give it up for Grant! xxxXxxx
new album 'miracle' & first single 'bad hair day'
i am actually ecstatic to announce that my new record 'miracle' is coming out June 18th on Memphis Industries. it was written during a period of my life where it felt like i needed a miracle just to function from day to day. of course these days many of us are praying for some kind of miracle to magically return us to normality, but this isn’t what my record is about.
lyrically, ’miracle' is a document of a time when i was asking myself a lot of questions - “when was the last time i felt happy? is it my fault that i feel this way? am i doing it to myself?”. i don’t really have any answers to these questions, but it felt cathartic to acknowledge them in these songs, and i hope that listening to them will feel cathartic if you’ve been questioning yourself lately too.
quitting alcohol at the start of this year was one of the first steps i’ve taken to feel better, and it feels significant to be sharing ‘bad hair day’, a song about hangovers now that i'm nearly two months sober. it's the longest i've been without, and for someone who spent the past decade touring and working in hospitality jobs where alcohol is your reward, your commiseration and often your fuel, it leaves a big hole when it's gone. though there is a sense of loss, what i've gained is perspective - i'm learning how good it feels to be 100% every day.

"To Make Angels In Snow"
This track was a bit of an experiment for me as I’d never recorded drums, bass, keys and guitar by myself in a studio before, and it was also my first time recording onto 2 inch tape. The woodwind on this song was handled expertly by my actual neighbours Kyran Matthews and Emily Burkhardt from the Manchester Jazz Collective who I adore, and the beautiful BVs and spoken word are as ever by the wonderful Coralie Monnet. I'm not a religious person but I love the holiday season which why I can’t wait any longer to share this Xmas jam with y’all. No matter who or what you believe in I hope that your wintertime and holiday season ahead is filled with love, positivity, family friends and rock n roll. Love Francis xxxxx

Up & Down - Video out now!
our new single 'Up & Down' is a tale of two lovers with terrible and terrific mood swings, who drive each other insane one minute and are madly in love the next. i'm not sure if it's a happy or a sad song, you can decide for yourself. the video was directed by Manchester filmmakers GRANDMAS and it is most definitely a dark affair. in their words -
“Up & Down follows a young woman after she murders an anonymous man in a hotel room. We tag along with her through her self-destructive path to oblivion as she wanders the streets at night, drinking copious amounts of tonic wine. She happens upon a northern karaoke bar where she sings her swan song as police sirens sound in the distance”

A Dream Is U - Pre-Order Now!
hey fellow humans,
i’m extra grateful to be alive today because i can finally tell you all that my debut album ‘A Dream Is U’ will be out August 2nd on Memphis Industries <3<3<3
it’s a kaleidoscopic dreamscape recorded in full audial Technicolor, swimming with strings, harmonies, silver saxophones and merry go-round guitars. it’s the record i’ve always wanted to make.
today i’m also sharing ‘2 Real’ with you, the second offering from ‘A Dream Is U’. it’s a song about finding and losing yourself and how interchangeable those two feelings are. the video was filmed and directed by skate cinematographer Jim Craven whose work on the Heroin skateboards videos as well as his own films like Land and Island is equal parts impressionistic, raw and elegant. It features Heroin skateboards’ pro skater Tom Day, my band-mate Coralie and myself driving through Lincolnshire, England skating riverside ditches, satellite dishes as well as Tom’s homemade skatepark outside his static caravan in the countryside.
